Schooner Farms CSA
What is a CSA
Community Supported Agriculture, or CSA, is a relationship of mutual support and commitment between farmers and members- as it implies a willingness to share both the bounty from the land and at least some of the risks involved with production.
In return for an annual membership fee to cover the production costs of the farm, CSA members receive a weekly share of the highest quality chemical free -grown harvest during the local growing season. When members obtain food from local farmers, they are directly supporting small, family farms in their community as well as receiving the freshest available produce.
CSA is a Partnership between the Members and the Farmers
At the core of CSA is the idea that members support their farmer by sharing in the inherent risks of agriculture (poor weather, drought, disease, early frost, crop failure and so on) and rewards (the bounty from a good season!). Therefore Schooner Farms will act in good faith to provide fresh organically grown produce for the 20-week season. Part of the CSA experience is getting to know your farm and your farmers.
You become involved in a community of farmers and eaters committed to healthy food and a cleaner environment!
