3 Hares Farm

Picture
Meet Chris & Amanda of 3 Hares. Chris & Amanda will be growing out at the farm and will be having a CSA!

Chris is a NW Ohio native, a recovering architect and general contractor who followed his passion for sustainable building all over the United States before returning home to roost. He met his partner Amanda in Utah where they both worked for a non-profit building strawbale homes for low-income families. Amanda is a Texan, a first-generation farmer, and a “foodie” with endless enthusiasm and curiosity for all things plants. She followed Chris back to the Great Black Swamp and felt instantly at home here.

We chose to farm because we have experienced the joy of eating locally produced food, and we want to share that joy. We are what we eat, and the produce widely marketed to us at the grocery store is selected for shelf-life and whether it can survive the long haul from California rather than for flavor and nutrition. The industrial food system reduces our relationship to the food we eat to a faceless (and flavorless) commodity. It doesn’t have to be this way! Small local farms provide our best hope for keeping agriculture a resilient and vibrant part of our local community. Stewarding the land and nourishing our bodies.

We are simply over-the-moon to have Don and Becky’s mentorship and support in expanding our operation by sharing their farmland with us. 2021 was our first year growing at Schooner’s for the Bowling Green and Findlay farmers markets. This year we are excited to be offering a limited number of Community Supported Agriculture shares! A $600 CSA membership secures 20 weeks of seasonal vegetables harvested at their peak from late May to early October. Shares include an average of 5-7 different veggies each week and can be picked up right from the farm on Tuesdays from 4-6 pm. Half shares and Senior shares are also available.
We’ll be posting more details about our regenerative growing practices, highlighting the varieties we’ll be growing this year, and of course lots of farm pictures on our facebook page (over the next few weeks. We look forward to sharing this journey with you!
